6 Reasons Why I Love Korean Drama TV Series

A year ago, I wouldn’t believe myself watching Korean dramas almost everyday until 4 in the morning on a school day. But now, I do. When I was in late junior high or early high school around 2010 or so, Korean was invasing Indonesian’s teens. KPop, KDramas, or whatever, was all over my neighborhood. One time at a time, my friends turned into KPopers, someone who likes KPop and the other things about Korean. I will tell you that I, myself, thought, that was weird. I couldn’t even think of becoming one because:
  1. I can’t differentiate their faces because they look the same to me
  2. Pretty much I can only give you that one point
I first found one about Korean dramas around November 2015. Where I accidentally watched Oh My Ghost, in an empty class where I originally had to do some group CATIA project with my team mates. I watched episode 5 and I laughed histerically because in my mind, Oh My Ghost is funny in an innocent way. It later made me asked my friend to put the videos inside my flashdisk and I was The Flash after arriving home, couldn’t wait to watch ‘em all. I watched all 16 episodes within 2 days. After that, I became obsessed with KDramas.

So, I should probably set a list named: 6 Reasons Why I Love Korean Drama
  1. They have great face
I have to shower myself with 7 different flowers to wash all my sins and to forgive my own self for saying I couldn’t differentiate their faces because I thought they all looked the same but now I know some of them and I can admit that they definitely don’t look the same. Although I know some of them get plastic surgery all over,  I still think that they have beautiful faces. Plus, I love slanted eyes. (no, not you. Please do not make weird noises that will get on my nerve)

  1. They know how to match things
They do know what good outfit is. This is undeniable because I love their style and if I may compare to Indonesia’s soap opera, they know how to match their actors with their outifit. If the actor/actress’s rich, he dresses well. Or if the actor/actress’s sick, he/she won’t have natural and fresh make up but he/she will look sick, like how actual people get sick.

  1. The plot and the twist
I watch so many things and so many genres. I watch serious TV shows like news, law talkshow. I watch comedy, actual talkshow with host and celebrities come talking about their newest topic. You name it, I’ve seen it. So far, I’ve never seen Indonesia’s soap opera from episode 1 to the end because I know it’ll just waste my time because most of Indonesia’s soap operas have like 100 episodes and are aired almost everyday. Second, Korean dramas have better plot and the twist. Episode one to five, you’ll be like “oh my God, they’re so cute. They’ll be dating in the end. Oh  my God, look at this guy!” and episode 6 to 10 is when they finally find something that bothers them. The rest, it’s when they fight to have better life and to finish the battle.
Actually, Korean dramas have this one thing that must not be forgotten. Back hug.
  1. Their own romantic scenes
I don’t know how Korean’s director or scriptwriter do this, but they do know how to  make us jealous and upset at the same time. Like this drama called, Healer episode 11 where the couple has a date in a movie theater (he rents the entire studio for her with her own movie choice!) but the girl should not see the guy’s face so she watches it by herself not knowing that he sits on the corner in the dark. When the movie ends and she’s about to go home, he stands behind the wall just so he can hold her hand for like few seconds. WHO COULD ACTUALLY THINK OF THAT?!

  1. They have their own soundtracks
As far as I know, most soap opera, in every country, has its own soundtrack from someone’s album(s). But the songs are released before the TV series start. Songs are purposely created just for movies. But Korean think “hey, what if I want my own soundtracks for this drama that I direct?”. And so be it, they really intend to make the drama becomes more special with special soundtracks.
  1. The details
You wanna know how surgery goes? Watch KDrama. You wanna know how journalists work? Watch KDrama. They show the plot with so much details, like they wanna show you the real one. You’ll be impressed with it.
Well, I can only find 6. I’ll just add more once I can think of more for the reasons I love Korean Drama.
